Residents and tourists in Ajman can now book local taxis through ride hailing platform Careem, it was announced on Sunday.
When booking a taxi via the app, customers can see an estimated time of arrival for their taxi and fare estimates, and get the ability to track a ride and the option to pay online via a registered credit card.
Pricing will follow the Ajman Public Transportation Corporation’s (APTC) metering rates, “with no booking fee charged for the first few months”.
When booking via the app, the dispatching of taxis will be handled by Careem as well as the follow-up customer service via their call centre, email and social channels.
The ride hailing platform had signed a partnership agreement to this effect with the APTC last year.
