Sharjah Intercity Transport Manager Adel Khalil said the stop design is derived from the desert environment. “Fourteen trips will be operated on a daily basis from Al Jubail Bus Station to the Centre – known as the Desert Park, between 6am and 11pm. Twelve trips shall then be operated from the Park to Al Jubail Station between 10.25am and 6.30pm.”
Sharjah Transport, by the end of March this year, added more bus stops and sales posts to its three major bus routes towards Dubai, Nos113, 308 and 111. Saeed Abdallah, Head of Corporate Communication at the Sharjah Transport, said that Sharjah Transport spares no effort in encouraging public transport and providing a convenient and fast shuttle service. “The corporation is now operating 124 vehicles on its 15 intercity public bus routes.”
Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, Director General of the Environment and Protected Areas Authority said the new stop comes as part of a massive plan to develop the infrastructure of the four-section park, and make it easily accessible at affordable costs.
“The move, which is in response to the public pressing demand, will attract more visitors and boost tourism in the region as the centre is the first of its kind in the Middle East.” Hana said the design of the stop is derived from the desert environment in view of the place.
“The stop will later be developed for the convenience of the 300,000 annual visitors,” she said, adding that the number is expected to be doubled particularly in the winter and spring months.
